Women in the Outdoors
Women in the outdoors encourages all females, regardless of age, physical fitness, or location, to feel better by spending time outside, doing various activities, like hiking, gardening, cycling.
Women in the outdoors are becoming a more common sight. For those who want to become one, it means getting out. Sometimes it means going out of your comfort zone, but the effort is more than worthwhile. All of us experienced women in the outdoors started somewhere.
If you’re a city dweller, you don’t have to leave the city to get outside. Even just taking a short walk at first, riding a bike around the block, or doing gardening are all activities that women in the outdoors do. Weight loss or merely getting in shape may be the motivation for getting outdoors. The main thing is to get started. Being one of the groups of women in the outdoors is rewarding in so many ways. There is no comparison. The benefits are numerous- getting fresh air, exercising, meeting other females with similar interests, developing a passion for nature, going to non-touristic places, feeling better. But whatever your level is, join the huge number of women in the outdoors. How do you become a woman in the outdoors? What do you need? Where do you find these articles? First, you can join groups with other ladies with similar interests. There are all levels- from walking to going on adventure tours. Basic equipment for walking is a good pair of shoes. As you get more experienced, you will want to get footwear specialized for your activity. If cycling is the activity, the first item is a bike which, at some point in time, will be upgraded for serious cycling, maybe even bike touring- cycling in different parts of the nation. Several companies specialize in organized tours with support for women in the outdoors. For those experienced women in the outdoors, join a group, meet other ladies with similar interests, introduce novices to your passion, or try a new challenge. There are many sources available to help you as a woman in the outdoors. Age is not a factor. Many people, including women, have hiked the Appalachian Trail in Eastern U.S. Surprisingly enough; some of these women in the outdoors were in their 60s and 70s. Some had never done long distance backpacking before. With support from other women and groups, many walked all or part of the 2175 miles from Georgia to Maine. Other women in the outdoors go on cycling tours after they retire. There are organizations for the over-50 group- many of them are for women in the outdoors. The leaders, usually women in the outdoors group, are experienced in various activities and know what other women are looking for in their outdoors adventures. Often lifetime friendships are formed with other women with a love for the outdoors. As stated above, once your physical level has improved, go climb a mountain, book an adventure vacation, or go on a cycling tour with other women in the outdoors.
